Two different online stores Kurk24 and Korkonline both run on Lightspeed’s CMS. Unfortunately, Lightspeed does not have the technical capability to link individual online stores to one another, so it is also not possible to implement hreflang tags between online stores with different domains. From an SEO perspective, this is problematic because it prevents search engines from properly understanding the relationship between the two online stores.
Growing While Already Being the Market Leader In practice, it’s rare for a project to become the market leader in organic search within just a few years. In the Netherlands and Belgium, Kurk24 has become the market leader in less than three years (as measured by search visibility). The big challenge now is to continue increasing revenue and, of course, to maintain its position as the market leader.
Growing in the German Market At the start of the project, the focus was on Kurk24, with the goal of increasing organic market share in the Netherlands and Belgium. Gradually, the Korkonline online store was added, although the store in Germany was still in its very early stages. Since mid-2020, we’ve been working on SEO for Korkonline, which required a lot of content to be translated or written. The online store was therefore literally in its infancy, operating in a large and (in Germany) mature market.
